This is performer, poet and producer Tessa Leon’s contribution to the Letter.Box.Stamp.Collect. project, a piece called II Stationary bicycle II. Tessa says of the connection between the poem and the project:
The concept of the daily grind fascinates me. I’m constantly cautious of routine and afraid of falling into the season-less cycle of nine-to-fivers. Spin Class at the gym illustrates my vision of a post-modern Hades, where everyone works so damn hard to go absolutely nowhere.
|| Stationary bicycle ||
Post-peak hour souls || ride its gleaming furies || devouring techno remix || and salted guilt communion.
To spin for their sins || a false climb to nowhere || chasing Sisyphus’ orbit || and a derriere mirage.
